Carmelo Pirri is assistant professor (RTD-B) of Human Anatomy at University of Padova, Department of
Neuroscience, Institute of Human Anatomy, Padova, Italy. He also is adjunct professor at McGill University
(Montreal, Canada). He has finished medical training at the University of Messina and residency in Physical
Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. He earned the PhD in Regenerative
Medicine (Molecular Medicine) at the University of Padova. He also graduated in physiotherapy at the
University of Messina. National SIUMB (Italian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) Diploma
in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: obtained after successfully completing the Advanced Theoretical and
Practical Course in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. Diploma in Osteopathy. Diploma in Energetic and
Traditional Acupuncture.
Vice-President: MFUI (Myofascial Ultrasound Imaging) Course of University of Padova.
Faculty member in numerous international Ultrasound training programs, including EUROMUSCULUS.
His academic work focuses on the integration of ultrasound imaging into clinical/rehabilitative practice,
anatomical education and translational research. His main areas of interest include fascia, musculoskeletal
ultrasonography, clinical anatomy, rehabilitation, regenerative medicine and scientific publishing. He has
organized workshops and delivered lectures on these topics at innumerous national and international
meetings. He has authored over 138 publications in various international journals indexed by SCI/SCI-Exp.
He is also a reviewer for 35 international journals indexed by SCI/SCI-Exp. H-index: 23. He is editorial
board member of various journals in the field of anatomy and rehabilitation. Finally, he contributed to the
drafting of various books.
